Audio and Video Production Special
Originally Aired On July 29, 2006
Send out the search party! Sound the alarm! Geeks and God Co-Host, Matt Farina, is missing in action!....Ok ok....It's not really that big a deal. He hasn't been captured by aliens or anything. He's just not around for this week's Geeks and God Podcast, but, the 'cast must move forward.....
In MF's place, today, is Joe Burnham. Joe is a church planter, pastor, and host of the Genesis Denver Podcast. Joe helps Rob find his way through this week's episode.
We were originally planning on starting our series on networking this week, but that's been put off until Matt is back behind the mic. So, think of this week's episode as the Old Country Buffet of podcasts...a little bit of everything. Here's what we've got:
First, Joe and Rob try and save their Geek Cred. by talking about a cool Mozilla.org project called Seamonkey and we find out that, low and behold, Superman was Jewish!
Then, we chat real briefly about a podcast that one of our listeners produces called Hillbilly Theology, and ask you to send in some audio to be a part of the Geeks and God podcast.
From there, we launch into our interview of Ryan Koral, of Epic Creative Group, and chat about some basic tips and tricks for producing video for ministry. Mostly, Ryan and Rob laugh alot and have a good time...
Finally, Rob and Joe chat about how Joe recently upgraded the Genesis Denver podcast by using some better gear, and by thinking outside the box of "A Sermon On Tape".
Mostly, we had a good time, and if we're lucky, we gave people a tip or two they could use. Don't Forget....you can watch the Ryan Koral/Rob Feature interview below...just click on the image!

Video Editing on the PC
Macs are great but if you want use a PC try Canopus. Rock solid software and hardware been doing TV
with it for 8 years. Adobe is good too.
Thanks for the balance!
Hey Jason...
Thanks for the input...and for balancing my Mac bias :)
Any specific Canopus systems you like or that you can recommend to different levels of users? Also, how about recommended PC system requirements for video?
Thanks for sharing!

Canopus
No problem Rob.
We started with MX1 on a PIII 400mhz machine and it was very stable. Then we got the Storm2 card. What made those cards work on old machines was it didn't reply on the PC to do the video processing. It was all done on the card. Now with a good PC with lots of Ram and A fast CPU you can get Let's Edit 2
Which is an upgrade of the MX1 and Storm2 Editing software. The coolest feature is the ability to import an unprotected DVD into the timeline and edit. All without encoding first. So any footage on DVD can be edited before being converted into an AVI/Mpeg file. Once the Canopus codec is installed Adobe Premier is able to use the video files too. The Canopus codec is also used on Avid systems. But Avid is harder then it should be.
God Bless
Jason
