Listener Bonanza!

You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialize correctly.

Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas from MF and Rob to all of you out there in G&GLand. Today's episode was actually not even supposed to happen (we were planning on taking the next two weeks off for the holidays) until Rob looked in the G&G e-mail box...and sheesh! We realized just how poorly we've been doing at staying on top of your questions and comments.

So, we take a one episode break from our Community Website series to bring you this Listener Bonanza! Think of it like a smorgasbord of thoughts, questions, comments, ideas, likes and dislikes from all of you kind enough to write or call in recently. We talk about everything from headphone models to wordpress installs, our (possibly incorrect) view on pastors to the future of the show. It's packed full of random tidbits provided by YOU!

Before all this, though, we talk about the Web 2.0 conference which will happen July 17-19, 2008 and the website (launching by January 1st). We talk about a couple of ideas for new podcast episodes in the future, and Rob has waay too much fun in creating the new Geeks & God Swag Store (many more products coming soon). Kick back, and enjoy this buffet of geekdom...here on Geeks and God.

Got me a new G&G shirt on the way!

I did the Donate thing before and now I'll order a shirt from your Cafepress store. It's a great way to help support G&G and make a fashion statement at the same time.....errrr ok maybe not a huge fashion statement but it's cool anyhow.

That's a least one shirt purchased. One more and you better get to work on some more shirts Rob :)

For people looking for a discount code, I found one:

Use Coupon Code: CAMPERTORSO (Expires: Jan 02, 2008)

G&G Shirt will be here today

Just checked the tracking number on my new G&G EXTREEEEME Tshirt. It appears it will be delivered today.

Watch out Axe body spray :)

Let us know...

Hey techmate...
Please report back on the quality of the shirt. If they're not good, we will remove them so no one wastes their money (well, no one except you! :) )

A report back would be nice. I haven't gotten any cafe press shirts since they started being able to do 'transparent' areas in graphics....so they're probably way sweeter than the ones I've gotten in the past.

Sure thing

I'll post back and maybe a few pics of me sporting the new threads. You know, just to make everyone jealous ;)
I hope it doesn't make my butt look big.

Looks good

Tshirt was delivered. Looks good. The overall quality of the shirt is good. It's about a semi thick tshirt, I would say an average thickness. The Logo quality and colors seem to be good, I purchased a blue shirt so I think they would have appeared more vibrant on the white tshirt version.
Looks as it does in the picture I would say. Im going to give it a washing first because its a little on the crispy side where the design was placed, they recommend that done anyways.

I think if someone likes the image sample they see on the cafepress site they will be happy with the delivered product.

Here's a pic of the shirt.

Edit: I have a couple better pictures up now. One thing I noticed is the text is a little bit crooked. it seems to be slightly slanted on one side more than the other.

I had this on a coffee cup I purchased through cafepress before. I emailed them and they sent out a replacement.

Really looking forward to

Really looking forward to the new podcast coming out. I give it two thumbs up and I haven't even heard it yet.

I really do appreciate what you guys do. Being pretty much the only techie guy at our Church I get frustrated at times because many of them just don't get the power of the online presence and technology in general in ministry.
I often feel link just throwing my hands up in the air in defeat and giving up and walking away from it if nobody else seems to care. Your cast gives me great encouragement to keep it going.

Thank you guys very much.

The look is awesome. I love the Idea of the groups. I think this is the first that i've seen like this in a ministry website. Another great idea about offering a class at the Church for people to learn how to use the website. For many that will be key in making full use of the online community.
Very good job.
Me likey very much

Thanks for sharing your church community site. It is pretty awesome. The new conference web site looks really nice too. Are you running the conference site as a separate drupal install in the conference subfolder? If not, how are you changing the theme?

sections module

It's the same hacked up drupal install we are running the G&G site on :-)

We are using the sections module to have a different theme on a different part of the site. Another way, which we ran for a short bit, was some custom code that set the global variable $custom_theme to the other theme based on the path. That's essentially what the sections module does but it has a nice UI for Rob.

G&G Swag

I know you could come up with a really cool G&G design for a shirt. I found a site that does screen printing called Print Mojo. If in the future you wanted to do shirts or whatever with high quality print screen instead of how cafepress does the heat transfers.
