Great to see Joomla represented on the forums!
Has anyone found any good components or modules useful for church websites?
I currently use Sermonspeaker for podcast and online listening and Ponygallery for a photo gallery which users can upload to.
Anyone found any others?

church specific podcast extension?

Why the church specific podcast extension, Sermonspeaker? The name says it's church specific. What does this give a church that the others don't?

sermonspeaker

sermonspeaker is basically the same as a regular podcast compoent but it allows you to categorise into "speakers" and "series" alot easier than the normal podcast plugin, as far as I know.

Gotcha

I see. With drupal catagorization/taxonomy is so robust that a feature like that wouldn't need to be tied to a module.

It's good that they are looking out for those feature in the extensions.

Do you know if you can use that with another podcasting extension installed?

So...

"With drupal catagorization/taxonomy is so robust that a feature like that wouldn't need to be tied to a module."

How much is Drupal paying you to be their spokesperson?

Log in, OK?

Hey Anonymous,

The essence of what Matt said is "Drupal provides what you need out of the box." He simply made a factual statement; nothing more, nothing less. Grated Rob and Matt do wave the Drupal flag, and they do so for good reason; for it is an incredibly powerful platform.

Your statement was probably meant to be funny, but if you're going to post stuff like this, you really should be logged in and take a little responsibility for what you say.

Forgive me if I'm coming on too strong. There have recently been some anonymous posts which were not appropriate. I really appreciate what these guys are doing and have personally benefited from their willingness to share their knowledge. I don't think we should reward them this way.

Thanks for hearing me out.

I agree NP. I just about

I agree NP. I just about posted something here and then didn't till I saw your post. The statement Matt made is 100% on. Taxonomy is a major benefit in Drupal that other similar CMS systems do not have.

Podcast Suite is worth

Podcast Suite is worth considering.

I've implemented this Joomla extension w/feedburner for sermon podcasting and online streaming... it also allows iTunes syndication and multiple feeds, although I have only used it for a single sermon podcast and haven't tested that feature.

Not yet updated for Joomla 1.5.
