Critique request for new church site

I have been deep into reworking my church's website over the last few weeks. I am at the point where I would like some feedback.

The new beta site is located at: http://new.christccocala.com

The current site is at: http://www.christccocala.com if you want to see where we are coming from.

The old site is all hard coded html. The goal is to move to a drupal system, update to using our new church logo, and add more color and personality to the site.

Where can I make improvements?

Thanks.

John

A Few Thoughts

I like the overall site. Lots of white space and big text.

Some areas you could improve on are alignment and spacing. The next and previous links above the rotating image would look better if they were smaller and there was a little space between controls and the image. When I see the Map icon above the menu name it's like they are running together. Some space there would be good. And, the rotating image should line up with the suggest readings block below it vertically.

This is the kind of spacing and alignment thing I am talking about. It will make a noticeable difference.

John

I like it, nice and clean. I like the image icons at the top right.

One thing that I didn't like was the text on the gray left hand bar. It just seems to run together making it hard to read. I wanted to read it, but it took more effort then it should. I would perhaps make some headings, like "Teacher, Series, Memory Verse, This Week" etc... a different colour, perhaps a dark gray.

I understand having the Bible verse in italics, but I find that it makes it more difficult to read. I think the readability would be better if it were not italics, and perhaps even a touch smaller font size. The reduced font size would help it stand out as a quote as much as the italics, but be more readable.

Also, is it possible to make the text links on the front page a colour other than blue? (I have not idea because I'm not a web designer) I find that when I see that colour blue it seems amateur or old. Perhaps you could use the lighter blue from your logo, or a shade of the green, or a dark gray.

Those are just my thoughts... for what it's worth.

My $.02

Looks like the site is live now and overall I think it looks great. I love the overall look and feel of the site. It feels complete and gives you lots of info without having to look too hard to find it.

I might advise you to use some backgrounds or different font colors to distinguish different headings and special text.

For instance, on the worship schedule page, each service runs together. I'm not sure whats the important information because everything is pretty much highlighted in some way. Hope that helps.

Very cool

I like it. The big fonts and images look great. Easy to navigate and just has an overall clean look to it.
Great job!
