Events Module vs Calendar/Date Modules

Which do you guys prefer to use on your site? Currently I have the Events module running, but I'm wondering if it would be worth me switching over to using the Calendar and Date modules instead. I haven't found a good comparison of the two, so I'm wondering which you guys prefer.

Calendar for the moment

I'm a fan of the calendar module at the moment. That may change and has good back and forth for me.

The calendar modules with the new date module let's you do repeating events better than repeating events in the event module. But, even module has some great addons that are good for churches (like event signup).

I'd give each a through review and then decide for your case.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply Matt!

Do you know if it is possible to have both installed and configured at the same time, or would there be some sort of conflicts?

I'm wondering if I can install and set up the Calendar and Date modules without getting rid of Events first. That way I could mess with both side by side and decide which I like better.

No Idea

I don't know if the 2 modules interfere with each other. I would do the testing on a dev site and see what happens.

Been messing around with the

Been messing around with the Calendar & Date modules, and so far it seems pretty nice. One thing I can't seem to figure out though is how to setup repeat events. I can't find any info anywhere on how to configure that. Also, is there a way to make a block with a list of the upcoming events (similar to the one that comes with the events module). It doesn't look like it comes with one, so I'm assuming I'd have to make my own using Views?

Repeat Events/Block

You're not the only one that couldn't find how to setup repeat events (I couldn't either). So, I documented it once I found it in comment #2 here.

As for upcoming event block, no calendar doesn't add this out of the box because it's a CCK based solution (ie. it doesn't create it's own proprietary blocks or content types). So you have to create this block in views yourself.
