I have some pdf downloads on this site and for some reason they won't download. I uploaded them numerous times and still I have the same problem, what am I doing wrong?

I have some pdf downloads on this site and for some reason they won't download. I uploaded them numerous times and still I have the same problem, what am I doing wrong?
Are they on the filesystem?
Do the files exist when you look in the filesystem? Is drupal configured to put the files in the files directory? Is it writable?

The Pdf's are just uploaded
The Pdf's are just uploaded in a directory called files on the server!

I'm able to download them
I clicked on all three download files on the homepage and was able to download them just fine. Im using Safari for browsing.
I can too
Last night I couldn't download them. This morning I can. Seems to be working.
