Hosting Service?

Anyone know a free hosting service that is on a linux server, has FTP, mysql, and php? Subdomains are fine, as long as they are simple, and not counter to a Christian Website. Anyone know of such a service?

Dreamhost

If you are a registered non-profit check out Dreamhost. They offer a free plan... http://wiki.dreamhost.com/inde...

Other than this I'm not to sure. It's always that you get what you pay for thing. Business usually don't give away free stuff unless there is an incentive for them. In Dreamhosts case I'm sure there is a tax exemption.

It is rare that I recommend cheap products. Would you buy a 5 cent folding chair for your church? I doubt it. That would be low enough quality to affect the mentality of the people sitting in them. Why is a webhost any different?

Basically, be careful.

Our Church is hosted with

Our Church is hosted with Hostmysite. They have some excellent support. Any support issues by email are answered literally in minutes. The couple times I have called support by phone they answerd in the first couple rings. Every support tech seems to be very knowledgeable. They have some great additional spam filtering by Postini. The downside that I have noticed is subdomains are not available but that is the only downer.

I use for my personal hosting MediaTemple. Heard about them through GeeksandGod. I have been really happy with them and love the ability to host multiple domains on one account.

Those are a couple to look into.
