Bible Q & A ideas for layout in drupal?

We have a ton of Bible Q & As that we want to post on the site. Not sure the best way to go about this. Any ideas on a easy to use way to do this?

Right now I was playing with just a page where all the questions are listed. Each question is hyperlinked to a page for that particular answer. Doesnt seem very user friendly this way. The user would have to keep clicking back to get to the next question. Any thoughts on a better way Im very open to.

Standard FAQ layout

You may want to have a standard FAQ layout. Something where there is a list of the questions at the top and they link to the answers further down the page. Everything is on one page and it's fairly easy to navigate.

How many Q&As are you talking about?

faq

Yeah, that sounds like a great way to go, but with the functionality of clicking on the question and having it drop down. If it goes to the bottom, you would see other answers. I have seen that style on some sites, but don't know if drupal can do it.

AJAX

This is probably pie-in-the-sky, but AJAX would be perfect for this. Imagine an unordered, bulleted list of all your questions. To see the answer, you click the question, and the questions below slide out of the way to reveal the answer.

I think that's how I'd do it. It keeps your page slim, and only reveals the answers that people request.

FAQ Style

If you are doing a small FAQ having a list of questions where all the answers are at the bottom is a common style.

Now, if you have a lot Q&As than you are better off with a FAQ system. Currently (for version 5) there isn't one that I know of. But, using CCK and views you could build one. We will talk more about these modules in the next couple episodes.

Custom Solution

This is a custom solution that Bob is suggesting. There is not module for that right now and is something that can't be just done with existing modules.

I like this idea but it's not a small undertaking to build it. The pie in the sky... the pie in the sky....

I'm disagreeable....

Maybe I'm just disagreeable today...but this doesn't seem like too tough of a solution to me. Granted, you have to know what you're doing to build it, but the implementation would be pretty easy when using contemplate, views and cck.

Until You Get To The Javascript

Don't forget about the javascript. This isn't really AJAX but it's not simple javascript.

Im drooling here!

Ah man I can totally visualize that. That would be awesome to have. I love ajax stuff and that would look sweet. The more I think about it, its probably out of my league right now.

Contemplate, views and cck oh my!

Reason to learn

Out of your league just means reason to learn more. Take it as a challenge. Learn to make. Then imagine what you could do.

That's a tuffie

Personally, I would upgrade the faq module to version 5. But, I don't know if that's up your alley. You could put them all on one or two pages but that's a bit long.

I think it might be good to do with cck, views, and contemplate. All these modules are ones we will be talking about in the next couple episodes.

Im reading up on all three of those (CCK, Views, Contemplate). Hopefully I will better understand them once you have your cast.
