Mac Audio Converter

Ok, I know we talked about this in the forums somewhere recently...but I can't find where. Anyway, today, I just found what seems to be an AWESOME Mac based audio converter (for converting to MP3, AAC, and a zillion other formats). This could even easily make an Ogg feed possible, if MF wants to tweak out our audio module some more (anyone interested in that?)

I'll be switching G&G to this new converter on the next episode...thought everyone might be interested in a great, free, Mac-based converter.

It's called Max

OGG possible

If Rob says it won't be too hard to make OGG files I can tell you that adding them to the node won't be too hard either. If people want OGG.

Great find!

Schweet!

Now it just needs to be ported to Windows and Linux...

I like max for its interface

I like max for its interface however you might want to take a look at Xld. It is excelent for easy conversion. I simply had to configure default audio codec and now I can just click on the file (or multiple) and open with xld to convert as many as I need easily. I recently used it to convert about 500 flac files into alac for itunes. Also there are similar programs to both Max and xld for windows and especially linux. One easy way to convert files is to set up a script (extremely easy with bash) and be on your way. Also along with ogg vorbis take a look at aac which has excelent player compatibility (though not like mp3) and is comparable with quality and compression levels to ogg vorbis. hydrogenaudio.com is your friend for audio conversion
