Let's hear your church studio podcasts

The 10/15/07 episode suggested a thread to tell about your church and what non-sermon podcast you've heard or are doing. I do one, but it's me and another pastor, not my church doing it.

I'd love to hear what people are doing, or even what suggestions people have: what topic ideas do you have?

Would love to but don't see it happening soon

I would love to have our pastor do a non sermon type podcast. But its hard to get him to do anything like that. I dont know, I think he is more comfortable in front of the people at church than in front of a microphone. He does a awesome greek thoughts article on studylight. I would love to get him to do something along the lines of a word study like that but in a podcasts. Again, he just doesnt seem to be into it.

Challenge Him!

I think what you say here, techmate, is extremely common. I know I've found it to be true with BOTH of the pastors at our church. However, that's where it's our job to gently and constantly challenge them to step out of their comfort zone. A pastor who is afraid to do anything except teach in front of people is a detriment to the church in a postmodern, media-driven world.

As I said, both of my pastors felt this exact way, but I started to gently challenge them. We started doing some video. We started doing a little audio. We started them blogging, etc. Now, because they've been gently nudged along, I have one of them preparing to do their first studio podcast this week. He's nervous to do it, but because he realizes the importance of new-media, he's willing to step out and give it a go.

So, I challenge all of you to challenge your pastors gently and often. Help them see the box they're in, and why it may not be good for the congregation if they don't start to step outside of it.

A nudging we will go..

I will keep working on it. I have someone else from the church now helping me and understands all this as I do. We have come a long way though. I remember when I first started going there. They had just tapes, and the website had no sermons at all on it mainly because they didnt know how. Podcast? The whole congregation probably thought I was speaking in tongues or something. But were coming along. With the fantastic casts here at G&G and all who participate on this site, its coming along better than ever. There is soo much more I think the Lord can do with this ministry but I just need to subtle reminders that the Lord is the one in charge and everything will be worked out but in His way and not mine.
