Projector Screen Software

Hey all,
It's great to be part of the community first of all. My question is about projector screen software - the kind that you can queue up items in a playlist of some sort and then run on the main projector screen. Actually very similar to ProPresenter. Without the price tag. Any ideas?

Consider Price

Welcome to the community.

I'm all for free software. My desktop at how is a Linux box. My servers run FreeBSD. I build websites with drupal. You get the idea.

When you are considering you projector packages take a look at some that cost. If anything you'll get a feature comparison. You may even find the cost is worth it for features.

For example, designers use Photoshop instead of Gimp. Gimp is great but for serious designing Photoshop is worth the cost.

That being said, welcome to a tough topic. We hope to talk about it more in upcoming episodes. Not being a worship graphics and video guy anymore I'll let others with more experience chime in.

Before we bought software

Before we bought software for our IMAG system, we tried Song Show Plus and Easy Worship. We also later tried Song Screen Liquid. Out of these three, I have to suggest Song Show Plus Professional. There were two main reasons we went with SSP. The first is that it was insanely easy for our volunteers to learn and use. Second, they made it amazingly easy to change video or picture backgrounds in real time. The other two programs didn't even come close to the real-time flexibility of SSP. SSP allows for a free-flowing, quickly changing, unpredictable service. There are a couple drawbacks to SSP, though. It can be a little buggy sometimes and it's a resource hog. You'll want a higher end system to run it on, whereas the other programs don't require nearly as much power. Also, it doesn't play MOV files, so you'll have to convert them to another format first.
