How about a show tying science discoveries to God's creative work?

Uh oh....

Ok, so now you're trying to get MF and me fighting, aren't you?? :)

Recently, I've found I really have a problem talking too much about science and God. I have seen that it replaces faith for too many people, so I always hate to encourage that discussion. People want "proof" of God or his works...but it ain't gonna happen.

As MF wisely points out: God created science. Therefore, he's outside of it and can't be detected by it. Can his works? Sure. But it's still not 'proof' of God. That can only be found in your heart.

So, on addressing science on the show, I guess I wouldn't opposed to it, just afraid that it might be encouraging replacement of faith in some hardcore geek somewhere.....that's my hesitation. I know MF has other thoughts on this, though....

haha

This is one of those things I, personally, dig deeply into. It is a really hot topic these days and needs to be tread on very lightly.

I would love to see more Christians view science from the view that God made it all. I think we need to talk more on it because for many science is a barrier to God.

But, the point it not to prove the Christian view of science but to bring people to God. I think we could debate and start a debate on views in science but I fear that we would not bring people to God or really be able to enable geek Christians to reach out to others.

If this is a topic we end up digging into, even if just lightly, I think it needs to be very well thought out and each week of it needs to tie into the next. This is a complex and deep topic. I would be willing to take peoples thoughts on this. Any thoughts out there?

Hey, I just thought it was

Hey, I just thought it was another geeky topic to cover...

As for knowledge and understanding, I tend to agree with RF. The more you "know" or "understand" the less you rely on God. That was the tree of "knowledge of good & evil" way back then right?

I also think that no later than our children's lifetimes, we will be facing a "proof" that God doesn't exist and the smartest minds will have figured it all out (and God of course won't be in that picture). So the more of us who will be there to question the truth and proof, the better I say.
