Been wanting to listen to your show again but you guys seem stuck drinking the Drupal Kool-Aid which is cool and all but there are many other CMS just as worthly of attion. There are a lot of things that could be talked about beside the super geeky web install of one said CMS. Not that I might not use Drupal in the future. But spending so much time on it maybe it should have been an off-shoot of G&G. Just a thought.

Almost Over
You are right that this drupal series has gotten long. We knew when we started this series that it would be long and off track for some of our listeners. But, we find that this is something that needed to be talked about and we hope it will be a reference for others.
There are many other great Content Management Systems out there. Joomla! and Typo3 are two others. If someone has a several episode podcast series that covers the same type of things for these please let us know or post them in the forums. While we know drupal and that is our setup of choice there are other worthy candidates out there.
In general we just wanted people to get into a system and learn how to do church sites better.
But, this series is coming to a close. There are two more episodes left and two weeks from today we will have something non-drupal for our listeners. So, the end is near and we do have some stuff coming up in the future that is completely non web development stuff.
We hope you'll keep listening and bear with us a little longer. There are some good surprises coming up. Is there something you would like to hear about?

Kool-Aid!!
This is awesome...I need to make a "I drank the Drupal Kool-Aid" t-shirt! :)
Yeah, I can see how this would be long for people not intersted, but we're trying to be more forward thinking than that...we hope that for years to come, people could find this series and listen from start to finish, learning all about how to setup a drupal install for their church.
Why focus on just drupal? When we did a few "general" CMS episodes last year, we found that they were limited in how helpful they could be because we couldn't talk about anything specific or anything in depth. This made them good for being generally informative, but didn't give enough info for someone to actually build a site. So, we had to focus on one CMS for it to be really helpful...and drupal is our CMS of choice, so that's where we went.
I just pray that this 10 week boredom for some means that there is good, comprehensive info on the web that can help churches for many years to come.

... or at least until Drupal 6 is out.
true dat
So true. Web design is changing so much that it's hard for anything to be where you should be referencing for years. I'd guess that 2 years from now is about when drupal 5 support will be dropped so it will be good till then.
But, it could go to a lot of use now!

Indeed! I know it's been tremendously helpful for me. I tried listening to a couple of the other drupal podcasts out there and I don't mean to put them down but they just don't stand up to G&G in terms of listenability.
Kool
I had never touched a CMS until this series started. But now I am getting into it, so I would like to say thanks to you two.
There are many ways in which the Church can be helped, and you have chosen one in which you are particularly gifted. It's what we are all called to do.
Of all of the topics you have tackled, this is by far the most useful. Whenever we get new guests at our church, we ask them what brought them, and usually the website comes up first. And it is still a bit lame (hey I'm workin on it). It has changed my philosophy for advertising. Most churches have a phone book and newspaper ad which are aimed at bringing people to a location. I now think their first goal is to point to the website which has a much greater ability to do this. So having podcasts that focus there is really cool. Just my 2 cents...
