A buddy and I are designing a site remotely and are trying to develop a task list so we can keep track of what each other is doing or has done. We are having trouble getting any of these modules to display right. I think the problem may be due to our lack of understanding of basic drupal design. Could someone give me some assistance...like first build categories, then a view...etc. Ultimately I would like the task list to display in a right block. Any help or direction would be very appreciated as I continue to try to learn drupal.

full blown system?
Are you trying to make a full blown todo system? Like a gtd system?
Here is one way...
- Create the node type.
- Add fields to it (like taxonomy), CCK, and anything else.
- Create views to look at the information.
This general flow should work well.
