It's not finished yet, but most of the design is done. I'm looking for 2nd opinions on how it looks and feels. Please be specific!

re: Check out my church website

Overall, the layout works well and keeps the content focused throughout the site.

Here's a tool to help you and your team evaluate your site and discuss some of the reasons you have a website: http://www.internetevangelismday.com/church-site-d...

Now, for some nit-picking, things that are easily changed:

  • On the main page, the Ministries graphic says 'Find out how to get to FBC!', just like the directions image does.
  • You use graphics instead of text and there is no alt text for most of them
  • I could not find the address of your church in any text, not even on your directions page. The google map is good, but a visitor needs to get to your site first. Oops, just found it on the contact page.
  • Your page titles are rather generic. For example, the About Us page has a title of 'Who We Are' - something like 'More About First Baptist Church of Rhinebeck' or 'Who is the First Baptist Church of Rhinebeck?' reads better in search results.
  • I just discovered you have 2 'Who We Are' pages, with different formatting. Click on About Us, then click on 'Who We Are'
  • The names on the staff page are unreadable

Very Nice

I like it!

A few comments:

  • There's an empty "grey" box at the bottom of your pages. I suggest that you use this for footer information like reiterating your location and displaying your phone number. Otherwise, eliminate the box.
  • On your content pages there's a fancy horizontal rule that doesn't extent across the entire column. Visually it bothers me and I'd eliminate it because I don't think it serves any purpose.
  • Your contact form's link is too hard to find buried inside the About Us menu

Hope this helps,
Curt
