I think your designs are quite good if you're talking about the "stills" area? It is however a bit difficult to discern the overall effectiveness from a small image.
If you're talking about your own site.... why the two big rectangles of red? Don't seem to fulfill a purpose to me at all. Also, why the huge amount of whitespace to the right of the big red rectangle and above your content and menu? Seems a bit strange... but I can see you using the idea of a little different layout... but the whole site just looks a bit disjointed.
On a non-design note...
WHY are you using tables for this?
Why are you using the br tag?
It would behoove you to validate your 36 html errors.
I think it's fitting as a portfolio site, but that huge gap at the top wastes so much valuable space. On a 1024x768 resolution, your content starts literally half way down the page. By moving your content up, even half way between the top of the web window and where it's at now, it would be an improvement and allow you to possibly redo your thumbnails so that they're bigger and consume more space
Thanks all, I have been in school for a quarter. Been doing this for a while. I know this site doesn't follow the standard navigation for standard layouts in website, buts its moreso the swiss-style for graphic design. I am not trying to market my web design skills in a portfolio-- although, they will be expecting a website. I am marketing the style of swiss.
I apologize for tables, just a habit /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
