Hi,

I'm just wondering if anybody knows how to place guitar chords above the lyrics in the html of your page. I've tried to search this on the internet, and am getting frustrated because I can't find anything where they explain how to do this. I need to be able to place the chords above the words "precisely" where they need to go. Does anyone know how to do this??

Thanks,

Michelle

Outside of some precise css

Outside of some precise css absolute positioning, I I think in this particular case you'd be better off with creating images for the cords...

Use a fixed font, such as

Use a fixed font, such as Courier, and use rather than tabs. Keep line lengths short, and offer a PDF version as well, so you can have more control.

On the music sites we do, we prefer PDF or Word for chord sheets for exactly the same reason - we NEED to know how it will look on the users screen.

I found that using "Courier"

I found that using "Courier" font still did not align the chords with the words. So I thought I'd try something else. I created a "text document" in my cpanel, and typed out the words and guitar chords in there. Then I placed a link under the song to view the words and guitar chords. That seems to work fine. I also tried to create "tables" but that ended up a mess - and simply didn't work. For now, I'll just have the link at the end of each song, to the text document.

Thanks for your input.

Bless Ya!

Put it in a pre tag. And make

Put it in a pre tag. And make sure your sources are mono spaced to when positioned. That is the only way to get it to work right on all browers/systems.
