Pastor, I once was trying to come up with a logo for a friend's ministy. It's called "God's helping hands ministry". I remembered a church logo I had seen in Sevierville Tn, it was a hand reaching down, grasping a hand reaching up, the two actually formed a very distinct cross. One of the best logos I've ever seen. So I kept wanting to make something along those lines, but it wasn't happening. Then I stopped, and thought about it along theological lines. I got a whole different approach, and drew a pair of hands reaching down and rescuing a lamb from beside sharp rocks. Thank God, it really worked.
So anyway, that seems to be the best way to handle these situations. I want to throw out a few ideas, if for no other reason than to know what not to do. That's one of the best tips I ever read when trying to find out a color scheme for a client: first ask what they DO NOT like, and one can save a lot of time. If we're going to kick these ideas around, we might as well come up with something you really like, that works. So again, if any of my ideas don't click, just say so, it might be that somebody else can discern what's needed by reading the dialog.
A couple of years ago, I did a logo for my father in law, he had a Friday night meeting. In fact, he's no longer using it, so that's a possibility, but anyway, it showed a lantern in the darkness, casting light onto the words (Name). I thought it worked well. So that's a possible theme:

Not sure how one would do something about 'all one body'. Sounds difficult, which being interpreted means: not quickly recognized.
