listing small groups

I posted this to the tail end of another discussion from earlier, but haven't recieved any response. I am assuming, since I have recieved a response to pretty much every other post I've submitted, that it was just overlooked since it wasn't a new post, anyway, I hope this isn't a nuisance to anyone.

I am creating small groups using CCK, OG, and Views... would it be better to make the groups meeting times part of the group node, or to create another CCK type for group meetings? Also, as of right now, in my testing I have the meeting times as part of the group node, but I am having trouble in views with repeating dates. I am trying to display only the next meeting time for each group node, rather than displaying every meeting time until the end of the repeating dates. I tried filtering by date, using relative dates and cannot make it work. If I use absolute date values it works. As always, any help is greatly appreciated

p.s. - I tried selecting "group multiple values", "show" 1 "value(s)", "starting from" now

this doesn't do the trick either

I get the following error:

"An error occurred at /admin/build/views/ajax/preview/sg_dbs."

What not How

I think the first thing you need to do is spec out what it is you want the site to do. Then, build the functionality around that.

For example, do your groups meet at consistant dates and times? Do you want that recorded?

Or, do they have meetings all over the place? Do you want to record specific small group meet-ups separately?

Don't think of how you do it in drupal. Think about what you would want a site to do and how it meets the needs of your groups. With that we can give you more detail on how to do it.
