Since Joomla appears to be a minority on this site, I wanted to encourage it's use. I just recently upgraded our church site, www.westhillbaptist.com, to a completely native Joomla 1.5 site. Here's a breakdown of what I used in addition to the built-in apps.

Paid Items
Thyme - This is our calendaring program, allows for multiple calendars and a theme to match our site. Although one could easily setup "Google Apps for Your Domain" and do a Gcal integration.
Book Library - Not live yet, but will allow integration of our library and checking out books into our site.
Front Page Slideshow - Showcases our recent events and makes it easy to put our people on the front page.
Simple Image Gallery PRO - Easily makes a photo slide show

Free Items
Podcast Suite - Podcasting our Sermons and Special Sunday schools lessons
Prayer Center - Allows for registered users to submit and subscribe to prayer requests
Yvcomments - Allows for discussion on specific content
AllVideos - Integrates flash video into content
PDA Plugin - Re-themes the site for mobile devices
jredirect - Had to use to make a redirect for our iTunes RSS feed from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 since the URL changed

Still Needed
A form program to fill out for VBS registration.

Many of us are Drupal guys

Many of us are Drupal guys here. Thank you for posting your Joomla! site and related info. It is always great to learn what is going on in other CMS camps.

More Please

I want to encourage more Joomla! on this site as well. Thanks for bringing it up jevansjr.

Joomla! is a pretty solid system and a lot of people use it. While, I'm a drupaler I'm very supportive of Joomla! and it's users. I would love to see more of it on G&G and more tools to help Christian web devs building Joomla! sites.

Personally, I would test out Joomla if I wasn't already coding custom solutions, with drupal, with the Zend Framework, and with Symfony. There's just no time to pick up another tool :).

Joomla

Hey,

I LOVE my Drupal....Even thought I'm still like a lost boy in a toy store with it. But I did download Joomla and Wordpress out of curiosity. I've noticed a good number of Youth With a Mission websites are built with Joomla. So I plan to look into Joomla a little more.

But I wanted to thank ya'll for still having forums about other CMS's. Because it would be easy to just have a DRUPAL ONLY site. But I think it takes character, and a little guts, to do what ya'll do!

Good bless you fellas!

Nice Site!

I like the site!

I personally love Joomla! I have designed a bunch of sites on the platform and the community of developers supporting it are amazing! I would be happy to see more developers talking about Joomla here. I am planning on showing our stuff we have developed on Joomla, once it is ready for the public.
