I had a question for the Wordpress Wizards: how do you optimize your website for search engines?

I've been spending a lot of time in drupal and I think I've got that down, but I see the benefit that wordpress brings to a lot of churches and smaller groups so I was just curious about this issue.

It's a strange thing about determined seekers-after-wisdom that, no matter where they happen to be, they'll always seek that wisdom which is a long way off. Wisdom is one of the few things that looks bigger the further away it is.

Wordpress SEO

I focus mostly on the content. It is vital to bring good information, properly organized, to the visitor and thus the search engine. I try to keep my pages down to one and only one topic and to talk about that topic on that page. A shotgun approach will not work well.

There are a couple of plugins that help. One to do a Google-appropriate sitemap and some to change titles and such to be more friendly. There's not a lot you can do to optimize Wordpress itself but focus and content are going to be the big wins.

Keep in mind that there are plug-ins available but if your content isn't very good then plug-ins won't help.
