With all the features you outlined, a portal or CMS seems appropriate. And it is understandable that people don't like to manage multiple logins - but there are unified login methods, like OpenID, that allow users to create an account at one location and use that as their identity and authentication for other sites. Drupal, Joomla, WordPress and, soon, ImpressCMS either have OpenID support built in or have extensions to add it.
Hey CWM,
I need to set up a simple site for Liturgical Dance Day (Sept 7, 2008)
What I want is something where coordinators from different states, regions etc can upload event times & locations for that day
Pictures, youtube links etc
Some sort of blog or forum where the general community can sign up and ask questions, post ideas
Sell our LDD products
Post proclamations etc
This could probably be accomplished with a robust forum. Is a portal the way to go??? Or some other functionality?
I'm going to look at PHP Nuke and some other portals.
I've thought about setting up some sort of Yahoo Group, but I think I want to have more flexibility with the customization.
In the past I've found that getting people to sign up for another forum isn't the easy thing to do, so something that is user friendly is a must!
Let me know your thoughts & suggestions!!!!
