Questions about Google Apps & Mail server

hello,

Currently we have all our email going to our web server and the users (3 of us) get our email via pop. One of our users has had his computer crash on him a few times (without backups) so all his email is gone. I am interested in setting up IMAP instead of POP but the problem is that our webspace is only a few GBs and we'd use that up quickly if we were to store email on there. So I hear that Google Apps can provide some of this functionality and then we can IMAP into the google server and get our email from there. I understand I have to change my MX Records and do some configuration but I can't seem to find any tutorials that lay out all the steps I need to take. Also, with this option is it possible to have forwarders work (in cpanel I have some email addresses that simply forward to others, can I still do this if I point my MX records to gmail?) and will I be able to send email from my outlook using me@mydomain.com email address?

Thanks in advance,

Sam
