Sponge Bob is definitely not gay. A lot of people have suspected this but Sponge Bob does not get into details about his personal life. He just cares about entertaining kids. But Sponge Bob is a very transparent character and would have already told us if he were gay.
Men holding each other's hands does not necessarily show anything about their sexual preference. In India, it is culturally acceptable for men to hold hands, or even hug each other as they walk down the street. Maybe in Sponge Bob's culture it fine to hold hands with another male.
(Or maybe: he isn't real, so this whole thing is just a little silly. And even if this was about a real person, what does it matter?)
Personally, I find being discriminatory to people because of their sexual orientation to be more offensive.
Two cartoon characters holding hands on a kids show doesn't make it gay. Showing your underwear doesn't have anything to do with homosexuality. Go to a fraternity house and you'll find guys walking around in their underwear. Guys who are very straight. How many straight men have mooned someone? I know more than a few who have.
Talk like this is a bad thing and should stop. When we talk like this we alienate people, offend them, and work against the mission of the church which is outreach, service, and love. If we look at 1st Corinthians 13, the verse often misused in wedding ceremonies, it talks about having to do things in love. Talk like this doesn't lead people, closes hearts rather than opening them, and works against His mission. If we don't show people love, even those we don't agree with, than we are in the wrong.
Additionally, starting an argument (which a post like this does) draws a line in the sand and puts people on sides. Jesus message gets lost in this.
When this happens in gives all Christians a bad name. How many people are closed to the message because people talk like this? I know a lot of people like that.
I'm not going to waste my fingers defending the initial post (which was intentionally inflammatory), however I would like to point out as a parent of a small child that I would want to be made aware if there was a cartoon aimed at my kids that had an agenda of indoctrination and legitimization of lifestyles that run counter to what I believe scripture teaches. That doesn't mean those shows don't have a right to exist, or even that I should go around starting fires about them... but I would want to be made aware, so as to arm myself for the spiritual warfare the enemy is engaging in against my children.
My first priority as a Christian is to honor God in my life, by reading His Word and cultivating my relationship with Him. My second priority as a believer is to serve my family as protector and provider. This comes before winning the lost, or worrying about the way my protecting of my family will be perceived by unbelievers. The true missional mindset is one that travels from the inside out. We start with our relationship with God, then move on to our family, then we reach our community, then we reach our country, then we reach the ends of the earth. This is the true missional priority revealed in the new testament. It's why Jesus sent the disciples to the Jews first, it's why Luke 24:47 says to start in Jerusalem (local).
I'm not trying to be contrary, just trying to say that as parents, our local mission field starts with our family.

I said, this may sound like a stupid post. But must be taken serious.
And some may think it's silly.
First Sponge Bob is not from India and Cartoons can set an example,to some Children on what is right and wrong.
Let's see what the Bible says about Men with Men"
Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Romans 1:27 here doesn't point to holding hands or showing underwear, the two things pointed out earlier in their thread. There is a difference. 'burning in their lust', as the scripture points out, is a definite matter of context. Lust can shine through in actions but those actions are in a context. I've watched Sponge Bob. In it's context I've never seen the promotion or demotion of homosexuality on the show.
At the same time, how we live and operate around others matters. Reaction to stuff is unhealthy for those around us. Responding to things can work but it's not what's best. Instead of reacting or responding to things that come at us we need to lead in the direction God calls us to. There is talk in this thread goes against the way God calls us.
Due to the nature of this thread, the way things are being represented, and the tone of the thread I'm locking it from further responses. It looks like it might be time to look into community guidelines. See http://geeksandgod.com/forums/geeks-god-feedback/g... for that discussion.
It will not be to long before the Gay Movement push their agenda to the Cartoons, too try the gain the future ahead of time.
"Your Children" ...
This may sound like a stupid post, but must be taken serious.
