I think this is something many people have been through (i.e. one-sided romantic love, if I read you right). The pain *can* last a while.

I was head over heels in love with a girl for 3 years while at Bible School, but then discovered that she'd got bored of waiting for me a long time before, and had started dating someone else! I remember running off to find a quiet spot where I could be by myself, and just let all the emotion out to God (mostly through tears). I felt Him close to me, and was able to pick up my life and carry on after that (and actually enjoy being single!) ... for the few months before I moved to Prague and unknowingly started to get to know my future wife!

I would really encourage you not to 'keep it all locked up inside' - since that won't help you. Also, don't do what I did many times before - switch my affections to the next contender! Also not very helpful.

If you can learn to be content with who you are now, strengthened by your friendship with God, you will be much happier (and inadvertently more attractive too!). It may be wise to avoid close contact with this lady, if you can, just while the pain is still sharp (but on the other hand don't give her the cold shoulder). Just remember that God has someone even better in store for you!
