Some sites allow you to approve each ad before it appears, like TextLinkAds.com, and valueclickmedia.com has a nice ad filter system that allows you to filter ads by certain kinds of content, like nothing risqué, no audio, and no politics. The former pays a flat fee and is nonintrusive (can be buried on the bottom of the page), and the latter offers lots of options and payouts similar to Google with choices of CPC, CPM, or both. ProjectWonderful.com allows you to approve each ad, but their payouts are horrible (cheap for the advertiser, lousy for the publisher).
I'm looking into a web project and one of the things that came up was monetizing the project with ads. For many topics it can be as simple as using Google to do you ads. But, when you get into the realm of Religion things tend to fall apart. There are people out there who will target Christian sites with inappropriate ads on the ad networks. I can imagine an add for porn popping up on this site targeted at Christians and that would diminish the mission.
So, I'm looking into ad network alternatives. Any suggestions or thoughts?
