Advanced CSS

Hey,

Has anyone here fooled around with advanced CSS stuff and DHTML?

A few days ago I did a pure CSS layout and got some ok results...even learned something in the process. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

You can see it here: http://www.matthewruten.com/go.php/2

The style sheet switcher is from http://www.alistapart.com

Hello Matt:

Nice job on your example.

I really like the stuff that A List Apart has done. Also Blue Robot: http://www.bluerobot.com/

I have not played around with layers and CSS too much. Though I thought about it for this site.

There were some bugs with IE 6 and the List Apart Layout (scrolling down did not work). This seems to be resolved with IE 6 updates.

After designing a few sites with DHTML and then struggling with differences between browsers, I stoped for awhile.

Differences between browsers seem to be less of a problem now, so I think I may pick it up again.

Designing this way offers some cool possibilities, including different presentations by types of platform (Desktop, palm, mobile telephone) and allowing users to customize their layout easily.

Thanks for bringing it up. Keep showing us your examples.

(Oh and nudge, nudge /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ) If you want to do any articles or tutorials about it, I'll post them here for you. (With links to your own site).

Blessings:

I have been a fan of using CSS to produce the layout for webpages and use it for my website. The last number of weeks I've been taking a course on CSS where I learned some new things. The course was taught by Eric Meyer who has some demonstrations of what can be done with CSS on his website.

Hi David (macfoto):

I remember seeing Eric's site before. Great example of CSS. Where is he teaching a course? Online?

Thanks:

I've been playing around with CSS.... not so much DHTML. It's on my list of things to do. I've been having some fun with CSS on these two sites:

http://www.the-techie.com/iLuke2/remake2.php

http://www.iluke.net (not yet officially launched... I have to write some content if I get any time).

I must say, I LOVE CSS!!!!!! I'm still learning a lot about it, and I'm working on making NS versions of the above sites, but CSS is definately the wave of the future.

Thanks for showing us your site. I'm gonna take some more time to study it next week...

Sean, the course that I was

Sean, the course that I was taking was online through the HTML Writers Guild which has online courses for web development covering a range of topics and level of skills.

iLuke, I had a look at your website and I like the work that you have done. It was wide for my screen: my display is 832x624 so I had to scroll over. One comment, it looked fine in Netscape 7, but for the references to your father's website, www.joyintheharvest.com, there are no links to select. I'm not sure if you noticed that. It was interesting to read about your background and your interests: I haven't been to Africa, but my parents at one time were missionaries to Zaire (Congo).

David, Thanks so much for

David,

Thanks so much for checking out my site. It's still under construction (as you could tell), but I'll be going through and editing a lot of that stuff. Almost all of it is a copy/paste from my old stie, so it hasn't been updated in a long time.

That's awesome about your parents! Do you mind telling me about where in the country they were? We were in the southern conference (Shaba) in a town called Luana.

PS: Thanks for deleting the test posts, Sean. Since David and I had posted after them, I couldn't delete them.
