Ok, it's back up now. I don't think it is an evolution of the web or styles of sites over the years, per say, rather an evolution of a page from empty document to fully styled layout. Thus the missing of the animated gifs and flash intros. The "centered" phase was where he was centering the layout, but hadn't set the content into a containing DIV yet.
Fun to watch, though.

And it looks to me like they're just developing the page to a current layout, because it looks just like how I make my pages /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Haha! Indeed you did. You made a copy of my unstyled document, and put it on your server. Then you modified the markup to be more semantic, and began applying a style sheet. I simply hit refresh every few seconds and watched it evolve!
