Remote Sites

I have set a local web server and ported access to the web through my router. When I type in my domain name, my browser displays "It works!". However, if I add a /foldername (to access the site in the next folder down, the browse just sits there and waits for eternity without loading anything). I can access the site locally by using the domain name/foldername. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Sorry for the double-post: realized I didn't log in and want to make sure I get a response via e-mail.

Cheers,
Cole

Not enough info

Cole,

I'm not sure there's enough info here to answer your question. The lack of response from the web server makes guessing kind of difficult. Here are a couple of quick thoughts:

  • Are you testing from inside or outside your router?
  • Can you hit both the main page of the site and the folder using the public IP address of your router (instead of a domain name?)
  • Is there any useful info in the web server log about what might be happening. Are you seeing the page request for /foldername there, and does it return ok (200) or generate an error code?
