Pretty nice... not usually a fan of flash sites but yours loads very fast with my connection.. not to sure about a dialup connection though /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Impressions: don't like all the gradient lines. Makes it too busy and IMHO detracts from the content.
Right hand scroll required at 800x600
Unable to scroll down using the "roller" on my mouse.. had to use the scroll bar.
Had a hard time finding your "form and guestbook... of course I didn't notice that you already told me they were in the Products Section...LOL
Form/Guestbook: Can you make the cursor go automatically to the first field to be filled out? I like that when forms are presented to me. (personal preference)
Not able to use the tab key to go to the next field in the guestbook/form... using the tab takes me to +10 or -10 or add to the guestbook.. another personal preference... I like to use the tab key when filling out forms
Just a thought on your Portfolio...make the little picture you show of the site a link to the site as well... not just the text link you have below... I tried clicking the picture to see the example first... if I hadn't scrolled down to the text link I never would've seen the example of your work
NOW... other than that.... Very Nice Flash Site...WAY beyond what I am capable of. I can put little .swf files on a site etc but have never attempted a total flash site.
A little SIN here... ENVY.... of your skills LOL
Thanks rmfred,
OK, I toned the lines down a bit, but I like the contrast it gives to the colors. I understand though, since my wife told me the same thing LOL /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
I put an "800x600 enter here" area and "1024x768 recommended" on the index.html intro banner. I know Jakob's boys ( /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ) will jump on my case, but I'm shifting from 800x600 since the masses are as well.
I'll get the "tabs" working on the guestbook (they already work that way for the form) soon. Thanks for picking up on that. You're right. I use tabs to go through forms as well.
The whole site is under 460k, with a preloader on each section - loading only when you see it for the first time. Cached after that. I'm always looking to optimize file size though...esp. in Flash.
Thanks again, and let me know if the changes I've made help any.
Looks nice.
One thing that I find slightly annoying is the swishing in of things. It always confuses me on Flash sites to have things appear out of nowhere because I'm always staring to make sure 'it's done'. Maybe if the swishing/sliding in stuff was slightly faster? I don't mean load time either, just in case I'm not being very clear. I'm on cable so the site loads quite quickly for me. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Thanks sunshine...I've speed it up a bit. It's running at 30FPS, which I believe is appropriate for most computers today.
I'll look at smoothing some of the movement out. Thanks.
Even though the load times may be quick, movement (shape morphing, sliding, etc.) and alpha changes (fading) can take a toll on slower computers, since they are handled by the CPU and not the internet connection. Macs also have a similar issue, due to the Flash player itself. Because of that it's important to "space" movement out. Having two layer with movement occur at the same time can really slow down the user.
Please check out my redesign. Also, any critiques of my guestbook and short contact form, please give 'em - they're in the "products" section.

Thanks guys
