Spent all weekend working on the theme. Still debating about the logo whether to add a gradient-ed (is that a word?) "stone" background...

Took me forever to hit on a color scheme but if you're running linux get Agave! It totally rocks.

Any thoughts / criticisms?

It's a strange thing about determined seekers-after-wisdom that, no matter where they happen to be, they'll always seek that wisdom which is a long way off. Wisdom is one of the few things that looks bigger the further away it is.

Very nice look!

Overall, I like the look quite a bit. It's nice and clean.

A couple of thoughts:

  • The div for your slogan spans the entire width of the header. This adds some empty space below your logo that I, personally, don't care for. I think I'd treat it like the "Grand Opening" message, but in the lower right.
  • I find the text size to be just a little small. Especially (and I can't believe I'm saying this) under IE (8 and compatibility for 7).
  • Your main content area, actually #content-inner, runs pretty close to the sides of the "page," IMO. As a quick test I used Firebug to set #content-inner {margin:20px;} and I thought it looked a better. 15px works, too
  • On the front page (this is getting really picky) you might want to put your main node content in a div, floated left, to keep one (or two, depending upon browser) line of text from running under the quote. Also, when I looked using Opera, I saw that the quote needs some additional margin at the bottom.

Overall, it's a very nice looking site!

Good luck,
Curt

Curt, good calls! Thanks for

Curt, good calls! Thanks for taking the time to dig into the theme. I just started with the Basic Theme and I still need to clean it up a little bit.

I was going to put the slogan inside a full sized logo. Maybe do a little text magic like "media". I've also been anguishing over whether to add a gradient image to the logo. I've got a picture of the stones of the wailing wall that's pretty cool. But I really like that simplistic look of the current logo.

Any opnions?
