Ipswich Community Church - bespoke design and CMS

I recently relaunched this site although it is constantly evolving. I'm aware it needs some optimization for loading speed in places and there are some layout issues in I.E 6 with the modal windows.... but please let me know if there's anything else that requires attention.

Thanks

Very much like the overall

Very much like the overall look!

Do consider putting your street address in the footer, and getting the site listed on google local search.

Your large banner links to other organistaions in the footer are a bit confusing to me as a new visitor. Why would you want me to visit any of them? If you have an Alpha course, then you'd probably have a page about it - and that would be the place to link to the main Alpha site? Or if you aren't running an Alpha now, a listing of others in the twon who are. If you have an alpha course specifically for Asians, then maybe AlphaIndia woldl be a link for that,
The IPEC and EA banners are more obviously relevant - a title tooltip for each link to say you are actually a member of each group would demonstrate that you are mainstream and trustworthy!

I too like the look and echo

I too like the look and echo the comments regarding the footer.
A couple of things that are a bit disconcerting to me at least...
When I select a horz menu item from the home page nothing happens, except for the image change in the slide div (which is a nice trick) but I expect to be taken to a page when clicking a menu item.
In keeping with the above - there is no clear idea where some of those horz items reside within the vertical menu items

One text increase breaks the horz menu layout but not severely and of course there is horz scroll even at 900px wide.
However, all in all a very nicely done site.... and it looks like it would validate as well if you put a character encoding on the pages.

Thanks guys for the

Thanks guys for the feedback... some useful points there that I'll try to address.

also the self-assessment tool has some things worth checking although I didn't have time to look through it all... but I'll certainly go back and read it later.

Overall I think it's really

Overall I think it's really good, certainly well designed and thought out. Gives a good impression.

My own thoughts about the middle box on the front page is that it is annoying that it moves even after you have clicked one of the menu items. Slow(er) readers may still be reading it and then it moves again. Would it be better to disable the box moving once a menu item has been clicked?

My other thought was, although I found out that it is at Thurleston High School, I couldn't find any more info about where it is. Also I was looking for a list of events - I have just found the events calendar (which works very well - nice use of Google!), but it was not as prominent as the other links on the menu, and I was actually expecting to find it under "News and Events". Edit: It is under news and events, I just missed the horizontal nav to it.

My final thought is that there is no need to repeat the side menu horizontally along the bottom, although I don't think this is too bad, and it does at least add some more structure to the page.

Stop press: Have just found out where you are by looking at your contact page. Maybe this should also be under about!
