Please critique my portfolio site.

I'm in need of a new job, so I put together a quick "portfolio" site with Drupal 6, and I could use some feedback on it before I start sending out my resume this week. I did this in about 15 hours over two days. For more information about why I'm doing this, please see this thread.

The only contrib module I'm using is Lightbox 2 and the Image suite. Normally, I'd use ImageField, but quick and dirty is the order of the day.

Please critique this little site for it's effectiveness at presenting my music, video and design skills. I currently haven't had a chance to upload much of my design work yet, since its all at the office computer, and I haven't been in yet.

Instead of setting up CCK Content types and views for my videos and music, I just decided to use embed widgets from other services, since my stuff is already up on youtube and soundclick.

Thanks so much!

Image Compression
Hey Tony, Here's something that could improve the overall impression. The first thing i noticed when I went to the site was the over-compression of images that make up the site's design. The main blue bar section image is really heavily compressed so you can see the blocky-noise thoughout it. Same with the photo of you on the homepage. I'd highly recommend going back and recompressing these images at a much higher quality. I would also (if you're in photoshop) adjust the levels or do an "auto color" on all the images...that should make things pop a bit more (makes the darks darker, the lights lighter, overall giving git more visual appeal. Doing these (making the images higher quality) will add a 'shine' and some slickness to the overall look, which will increase the perception of quality of your work as a whole. Hope that helps!

First, i agree with Rob on the image compression. Working that out will make it look a lot better.

Additionally, on the pop-ups for each item the spinning 'please wait while we load this wheel' is out of place.

I'm not sure you want to have your address on there, either. A phone I understand. But, someone should contact you for an address unless it's something like an office location or PO Box.

Thanks guys...

And for the prayers as well...

How do I get rid of the spinning wheel in Lightbox 2?

Updated...

Ok, both Auto Color and Auto Levels crunched the levels so much that the whole thing turned black and white, so I just added some contrast using the brightness/contrast settings to make it pop a bit more. I also recompressed everything at 10, which makes for a larger file, but there are only two files loading, and I suppose I could redo it so there is only one.

I also removed the street address line and added a download link to my resume (which has my address in it, if they need it)

Thanks,

Re: Design Portfolio

Tony,

There's a technique in Lightbox, I believe related to a REL tag on the link (I've used it before, but the details don't come to mind immediately; my brief notes say that I applied the first part of the technique described in http://drupal.org/node/314566), that effectively links your lightbox expanded images together as a manual slide show. I think visitors would appreciate this to more easily scan your portfolio.

I hope this brief information will be helpful.

I will pray for you and your family.
