The perfect software solution

5

After recording our Security episode I realized it was time to buckle down and get my password situation under control. I was using passwords that were too repetitive and too weak on everything.

After doing some poking around for a Mac-ish solution (I like something build specifically for Mac so it has a beautiful, familiar, and tightly integrated interface) I came upon 1password. I checked around with a few of my Tweets, and it turns out a few of them were using it and loving it. So, I downloaded the 30 day trial.

Here I am, a handfull of hours later, and I already purchased a license, have it running (and syncing) between multiple macs and my iPhone, and I spent all morning randomizing my passwords. I couldn't be happier. I like it's password generator feature alot, although my only hesitation is that I won't be able to survive if the software or my database ever died on me (but, of course, it does automated backups as well).

My only complaint, if I have to have one, is that it doesn't work directly with software (only web browsers). I'd love to have it store and remember passwords for my FTP client, Skype, iChat, or anything else...but i'll let that slide since it does everything else so well.

When I was using windows my password manager of choice was Roboform. When I switch to mac a password manager was one of the first apps I was looking for. 1password was the app I decided to go with. I think I purchased it the same day I got my first mac. Been using it ever since.
I use it not only for passwords but for secure notes and other information I want to keep encrypted and password protected. I have found the dev team to be extremely helpful with any question I have had about it.
If your a mac user this app is one you should not be without.

The best investiment

I got 1password a year or so ago and I've been happy since then. I manage lots of client's accounts so it would be impossible to manage them all on a secure non repeating passwords fashion for each client, also I have some long term clients that trust me a lot and I have their credit card numbers. I store them in 1password and I know I'm safe.

If you are thinking about it, just buy it you won't regret it!

I love one password

I love this program. I got it free from Macheist this Christmas and have spent considerable time securing all my logins. The sync with the iPhone is wonderful. I wish that there was a PC version, however, since it is inconvenient to log in to your accounts while using a PC if you have 1Password remembering your 15-digit long passwords.

Can't use my computer w/o it!

Everything is secure, and keeps my passwords, credit cards, identities, and anything else I wanna hide safe! Plus when I'm using a web browser, like Firefox, you can click USE CREDIT CARD on a website, type in your master password, and Voila! I'm done paying!

A must-have app!
