I highly recommend them. Four stars.

I remember looking into getting hosting here in the past, so I thought I'd ask the Site Chat Support some technical questions. I was answered by a live representative in under a minute! Now that's service.

With my old hosting provider, it would have taken about 15-25 minutes to start a single chat session. When I signed up with them about a year ago they were providing 300GB of storage space and 3TB of monthly bandwidth. Since that time they have switched both storage space and bandwidth to unlimited.

For me support is everything. They have a solid ticketing system that is not complex and allows for uploading of attachments. The admin interface is controlled by CPanel and they have really good tech support as well as domain controls.

I highly recommend them. Four stars.

Great value. Highly recommended!

I've been using Host Monster for my personal site, PhilGons.com, for about two years. I’ve been very pleased with all that I got for the money. I paid $5.95/month for a two-year agreement and got the first year for free with a rebate from Rebate Heaven (a shady site which is no longer around). Their support center is full of helpful knowledgebase articles that usually answer my questions. The few times I’ve contacted them for support, I’ve found them to be prompt to respond and knowledgeable.

I work at Logos Bible Software, and we started using Host Monster for several of our smaller sites: Biblia.com, BibleStudyMagazine.com, MacBibleSoftware.com. Our $6.95/month package allows unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth usage, and unlimited domain hosting. I’ve been very impressed by how well it has handled the growing traffic on these sites. MacBibleSoftware.com has decent-sized videos and has used 1 TB of bandwidth in the last two months. The site has been impressively responsive.

I give Host Monster two thumbs up.

Really solid shared hosting

When it comes to shared hosting, you go into it knowing what you're going to get, so what really sets a shared host apart is the level of customer support offered.

HostMonster's support rocks. E-mails get answered quickly, but more importantly for me, I can get on the phone and have my questions answered immediately. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get through to Tech Support.

My only negative experience was switching to php 5. It was not made clear to me that I needed to initiate the switch on cPanel myself until my third call. The first two times I was assured that PHP 5 was running on my server. On the third call to tech support (after being assured on the Drupal Forums that the issue I was experiencing was caused by a php-5 only module) the person I spoke with realized I didn't know what I was doing, lol, and actually helped me.

Other than that, I've had relatively good uptime and have no complaints about the price. I'm up for renewal however, and the cost is higher. I have to renew for 5 years to get the $5.95 rate, rather than the two years I paid when signing up. My current renewal is $7.95 a month for 3 years, or $8.95 a month for two years.

Very good host

I have relied on hostmonster for 2 years and am hosting about 6 sites. The reliability has been excellent. I rarely wait more than a few minutes when I call for tech support. The first person who answers the phone resolves my question. These guys know their stuff. I like the cpanel, simplescript installs, access rights.

Hostmonster is FANTASTIC!!!

The only hosts I've ever used are GoDaddy and Hostmonster. So far Hostmonster has outperformed GoDaddy in every aspect of hosting. Their customer support is especially amazing. You have 24/7 access to a live chat with a representative and they take care of 99% of your requests while you are chatting with them!

Just today I asked them how I could go about installing the PECL uploadprogress library for Drupal, and about 5 minutes later I got a response saying, "Just a minute, we're doing it for you now." Less than 15 minutes from when I started the chat, it was installed and ready to use... that's what I call service. (P.S. When I used GoDaddy, I was on the phone with a rep (or two) for about an hour and a half, and at the end of the conversation they said they wouldn't install the library since I had a hosted account.)

I'm sticking with HostMonster!
