  • New Computer

Hello. I am getting ready to build a new computer for my little sound studio...I am running Sonar 6, and would like to go 64bit. Currently it runs a AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1.53ghz) I think I am going to upgrade to a AMD 6400+ 3.2Ghz x2...but I am unsure of which motherboard to get...I was looking at a couple Asrock mb's but don't know that much about them...I am not that into pc games, so it will be a small 512 gddr2 vid card, and 4 gigs of DDR2 800 ram...plus the sound card, Audiophile 24/96...does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Episode 10 - Websites that don't suck, open source info

I was really intrigued by this. I have thought about using joomla for a media server so that I can listen to music at work and school, but didn't really know where to begin...and although, I still don't really know, I have a little more guided step. Thank you. But I do want to address one thing that you said. Open source is free. Most of the programs are free in price, but the term free is used here as freedom, not monetary. There are companies, like Redhat and mandriva that do offer free options, but their corporate versions cost money. Mostly for the support, but also for the documentation. But free just means you can view the source and edit it yourself to fix bugs and make components your own. Just a small oversight, one I thought is mostly misunderstood...because of the english language. One word, two or three meanings. :-)

  • More than just podcasting

I really enjoy your podcasts, and while I have listened to a few, there is more to being a geek than the web. I would like to hear about new networking and software solutions for computers, or the hottest new gadgets and things that can be taken apart. (like the new eeepc by asus) The web and websites are great, but I think that the church needs to be concerned with net security and the likes. I am just a younger...(at least I like to think I am) geek that is interested in more than podcasting. I hope I don't sound like I am complaining, I have to be up for work at 6am, and I should have gone to bed 30 mins ago. :-)
