Biography

I'm an average geek with a passion for seeing how things interconnect. Particularly I enjoy thinking through how to lead communities of people who follow Jesus and how that relates to, and can be improved by, technology.

I moved to Minneapolis, MN from Champaign IL in 2004 to help plant a Vineyard Church after finishing my degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois. Been living it up in the cold surrounded by tons of wonderful artsy people in the Twin Cities ever since.

I enjoy the sermons and general ethos of the Boston Vineyard and their approach to what they call 'Stage 4' faith, or 'Centered-set' faith (read more about it at http://www.notreligious.org) and how we can relate to secular cultures.

Haven't played at all with this yet, but saw it on twitter from a professional web-developer friend.

Thought it might be interesting to check out for people who don't want to rely on flash but still have pretty fonts.

I'll probably play with this once I have a chance for a side project I'm working on.

Have any of you guys seen this or used it? Any thoughts? Pros / Cons?

I've been thinking lately about some of the ways to use technology at home and in the church in a manner that is sustainable, but also creates or does not block opportunities for people in poorer countries.

My thoughts sort of focus on how micro-economic trends become macro-economic forces in a flat-world global market.

But at any rate, I was wondering if anyone in the community had any thoughts on this blog post I wrote about the subject.

Hey everyone, I was poking around a while back and saw this free linux-based worship projection software.

I have zero experience with it, but it has some interesting features such as a server-client model for storing the song database. I was at a larger church for a while where the Youth computer / slide setup was always out of sync with the main auditorium, so a feature like that sounds pretty cool.

I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to play with this and has an opinion on its general usability compared to some of the other free and commercial offerings out there.
