Currently the Director of Technology for Lakeside Church.
A follower of Christ since the day I stopped ask for a sign and listened to my heart.
I have spent the majority of my working life in various fields of specialized technology.
I was the AV guy in high school and ran the tech team for the auditorium.
I dropped out of college because it was to academic and went to work for a local AV rental shop.
After a couple of years of teching rental gigs I got into the alarm and security business.
This only lasted for a couple of years before my love of computers sucked me into the PC business.
I worked for a PC shop for 6 years specializing in IT solutions for small to medium businesses.
Later I went out on my own doing a variety of IT systems and GPS vehicle tracking.
For the last 2 years I have been the Director of Technology for my local church looking after all IT and auditorium tech needs often refered to as "The wizard of things that beep and blink"
I'm a self taught techy, so I may ask a lot of questions, but I will learn, assimilate and share. A sort of OpenSource for knowledge.
I'm gonna make this a last call for carpooling to the Gurus Of Tech conference in Louisville on July 13-15.
We are leaving Sunday afternoon with an ETA in Louisville of Midnight. If you are some where along this route drop me an email or hit me up on twitter @ChurchTechGuy and we can work out the details.
@Shrop just tweeted out a nice looking site at Rocky River. But it raises an interesting question as we are overhauling our church website.
How big should your banner be?
I went to Rocky's site on my netbook and the banner almost filled my screen. At first I thought it was a splash page. We were debating in our last web-dev meeting, how big should our banner be?
Anyone got some thoughts they want to share?
Thanks
I normally don't like to write complaint pieces, but this issue really bugged me.
The boys over at ChurchTechTalk are putting together a 3 day tech/media conference.

Seems Raincity Studios (parent company of Bryght) is shutting down their hosting services.
From their blog...
By combining the Raincity Studios development and design team with the hosting expertise of the folks at Bryght, we hoped to provide comprehensive online solutions to a range of clients. The last year and half has been a great learning experience, however it is with regret that today we must announce that effective April 30th, 2009 Bryght hosted services will be phased out with a plan to be closed completely by May 29, 2009.
